Great So Far

The Flyers have been rolling along through the months of November and December.  They are second in the league in points behind their division rival Pittsburgh Penguins.  They also have the most goals scored in the NHL with 105.  The offense has come from all over the ice.  The scoring has come from a balance of all of the line, as six Flyers have 20 or more points overall.

Through the third week of All-Star voting, Flyers captain Mike Richards is seventh in the all-star voting for forwards while Claude Giroux, a write-in, is ninth.  Chris Pronger is second among defensemen behind Pittsburgh's Kris Letang.  Kimmo Timonen is fifth in defensemen voting.  The best story of the Flyer's All-Star voting is Sergey Bobrovsky.  Bobrovsky is second in voting among goalies.  Not only is he a rookie in the NHL, but he is a write-in vote.

Flyers rookie goalie Sergey "Bob" Bobrovsky was named the NHL's Rookie of the Month for November.  During November, Bobrobsky posted a 7-1-2 record, while maintaining a .931 save percentage.  Bobrovsky has been getting plenty of playing time because of the injury of Michael Leighton.  He has handled the pressure well as he is tied for third in the league for the amount of wins for a goalie.  This comes as great news for the Flyers, as they have been looking for a long-term starting goalie to build around.

Off to a Good Start

The Flyers have won eight of their last nine, losing one game in overtime to the Washington Capitals.  With this current streak, the Flyers have now climbed to second place in the Eastern Conference with an 11-4-2 record.  The offense has been playing great during this nine game stand, averaging 4.33 goals-per-game.  The Flyers have picked up even more momentum in the last two games scoring 13 goals.  The Flyers management has also been looking towards the future of the franchise.  Claude Giroux has signed a 3-year extension while Jeff Carted inked an 11-year contract extension.
